Here’s to Another 80 Years of Nissan Moving People!

The holidays kept us busy: family dinners, hours-long travel, New Year’s Eve shenanigans, and the return to work. We wanted, however, to highlight an incredible milestone for Nissan that occurred on December 26th, 2013.

Nissan celebrated its 80th anniversary of moving people with innovative and exciting cars.

Carlos Ghosn, Nissan’s CEO, broke barriers in a company that has been entrenched in Japanese tradition with little influence from foreign ideas. He built an incredibly diverse management team, in terms of geography, with nationalities ranging from American to Swedish to South African. While Nissan remains a proud Japanese corporation, Ghosn’s efforts have promoted new ideas, new approaches, new sources, and even new promotions – all to make the automaker that much more successful.

In the lobby of Nissan’s headquarters in Yokohoma, Japan, Ghosn told the crowd, comprised of executives, suppliers, politicians, and media, that his vision includes a look forward, not backward. He emphasized the operation of Nissan in 160 countries and noted that the company will work toward making their cars more affordable.

So the mission is simple: make their vehicles more accessible to people who have never owned a car, or at least have never owned a Nissan.

As Ghosn continues to prove through his actions and improvements, you can’t do it by repeating the past.
