Holiday Season Safety

The holiday season is upon us, and many of us will be traveling to see family and friends. With inclement weather, which is often unpredictable, it is important to employ effective safety tips to protect you and your loved ones. We spoke with some of our service experts at Leith Nissan to develop a few steps that will certainly help put your mind at ease in case of an emergency. It is our hope to help you have a safe and happy holiday.

Preparation is vital…

• While a smartphone’s navigation application is helpful, the software can be outdated and you run the risk of losing signal during your trip. Always have a state map(s) accessible and build a general understanding of the route (i.e. interstate numbers) in case there are construction plans or accidents that detour you.
• You should store ice scrapers, jumper cables, rope, road salt, and sand in the trunk of the car. These resources can help during various emergencies that could otherwise be overwhelming.
• A small travel bag is ideal for holding blankets, flashlights, matches, flares, first aid kits, and other tools for keeping warm and alerting other drivers and emergency crews of your location.
• With the heat on in the car and the stressful conditions of the roadway, fatigue is a major contributor to highway accidents. Stop frequently at rest stops or well-lit exits where you can stretch your legs and get a little bit of blood flow. The crisp air is quite refreshing after being stuck inside of a car for an extended trip.
• Most important of all: have a crew of experts examine your car prior to the trip.

Naturally, purchasing a reliable and highly-rated vehicle can help ease your anxiety during the winter season. Leith Nissan has a great gift for you!

Kelly Blue Book rated the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder as the best family vehicle on the market. With an even more comfortable ride than in previous models, as well as greater handling and fuel efficiency, the Pathfinder strikes a chord with families seeking a perfect coupling of comfort and safety. Child-friendly second-row seating and Around View Monitors are two features every parent can appreciate. The safety doesn’t stop here.

With front and rear head curtain airbags, front seat-mounted torso bags, rollover sensor, ABS, and electronic stability control, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder “Good” (highest in their rating system) for its performance in crash tests.

As always, we at Leith Cars encourage you to…
